safety & supervision

At CYE, safety comes first. Long before the fun and adventure begin, careful planning, clear boundaries, and thoughtful supervision are already in place, so everyone can relax and get stuck in.

Training

Every member of our team is fully trained for the role they’re in, and we don’t take that lightly. All staff are DBS checked, first aid trained and equipped with up-to-date safeguarding training. We refresh and update training regularly so you can trust that the team instructing and looking after your young people really know what they’re doing and they care deeply about doing it well.

Ratios

We follow established national guidelines for adult-to-child ratios ensuring children are well looked after both on and off the water. A lot of the time out numbers are even better than minimum, so there’s more eyes, more support and more freedom for young people to try new things. It means everyone can feel safe, have fun and enjoy the adventure together.

Accreditation

We’re proud to be part of the wider sailing and adventure community. We work with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the UK’s main body for sailing and powerboating, and with Paddle UK, which sets the standard for safe paddle sports. We’re also approved by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which means everything we do is independently checked for safety and quality. It’s our way of making sure you can relax, dive in and enjoy everything CYE has to offer.
