FAQs

Let us put your mind at rest.  Please do get in touch if you have any other questions.

Can my child share a cabin with their friend?

This will probably be possible. You will be asked on your booking form if your child would like to share a cabin with anyone in particular. In all cases we will try to accommodate these important requests but ultimately we can't guarantee we'll be able to.

I can't afford the fees - can you help?

Please investigate our Bursary Fund! It's there for people who wouldn't be able to come to our events for financial reasons. We endeavor to remove as many barriers as possible from people being able to come to CYE. The process is discrete and confidential and CYE may be able to cover up to 40% of the fees for young people under 25. You can read more about the Bursary fund here. If you want to apply, Download the form and send it to bursary@cye.org.uk.

Can someone other than me pick up my child?

Yes. We will need written confirmation from the child's parents / guardian so that we can sign them out at the end of the event.

What happens if my child gets ill while they're with you?

All of our staff have up-to-date First Aid qualifications and are competent at dealing with minor emergencies. If it is deemed necessary to seek further help then a child can be taken to either Southbourne Surgery or St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

Can my child use their phone during their stay?

To help all young people get the most out of their time at CYE, we ask that mobile phones are not brought with them. If a phone is brought, it will be collected on arrival and stored securely in the office for the duration of the stay. This helps everyone switch off from digital distractions, enjoy face-to-face friendships, and fully take part in all that's on offer at CYE. You can call the office/out of hours phone if you need to contact your child during their time with us. In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will contact you directly.

My child isn't quite the right age, can I book them in anyway?

Our age ranges are there for safety reasons, and to maximise enjoyment for all our guests. However, we run a 3 month +/- policy, so if your child is 3 months too young, or too old, then you can contact the office to book them on. For example, if your 8 year old child wanted to come to a 9-12 year old event in April, they would need to be turning 9 by July of that year. The only exception to this is that 8 is our lowest age (except for Ignite Sleepover and 'all-age' events such as families weekends). 7 year olds cannot be booked on to events, even if they'll be 8 years old in 3 months.
