Senior Instructor
Positon: Permanent, full time*
Salary: £26,667
Start: 1st September 2025
*42hour week annualised to take into account seasonal hours
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about developing people, experienced in running outdoor activities and enthusiastic about sharing the Christian message to join our team from September 2025.
If you’re keen to gain experience in the outdoor industry, looking to gain transferrable skills, grow your leadership ability and want to be part of a great community, this might be the job for you!
Within this role you will be delivering events to a variety of guests, leading teams, planning and delivering staff training, facilitating our programme for spiritual input and honing the admin and organisation skills required for the day to day running of events and activities. You will be predominantly be responsible for facilitating events and activities and ensuring that CYE maintains its excellent reputation for delivering safe and memorable experiences and will be a crucial part of the Activity Team.
The Senior Instructor role lies at the heart of the activity team, bridging the gap between the Onsite Staff and the Senior Activity Team.

Trainee Activity Leaders
Each September we have a fantastic group of trainee activity leaders (18 – 25 year olds) join the team – it is so much more than a ‘gap year’! If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. You can read our information pack to give you a flavour of a year at CYE and download the application form and send it back to jobs@cye.org.uk. (Please bear in mind that we are often over subscribed for these positions and interviews are as early as December/January. Therefore, if you are interested, please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.)
Applications are now open for 2025-2026 Trainee Activity Leader positions.
Summer Staff
We’re looking for someone to join the team for the summer to assist on events by running activities, being on the meal rota and other jobs that fit in with the running of a busy summer season. Training will be available where necessary.
This is a community member role for someone 18+. Which means you’ll be provided with onsite accommodation and your meals will be with groups or the onsite team. You’ll also receive an allowance while you’re with us and pro-rata holiday.

Junior Summer Staff
We’re also looking for a younger summer staff member (ages 16 – 18) to come and join the team with a similar role to the one above. It might be possible to provide temporary camping accommodation while you’re here, we can talk about the details of this if it’s needed. Volunteers
We view our volunteers as part of the #cyeteam – you make what we do possible! You can read more here but these are some current gaps we’re looking to fill:
Galley & Housekeeping
(all year round, week days or weekends)
Could you spare a regular day or half day per week to come and help in the galley? Or do you have catering experience and would be interested in helping cater for our events? Whether you can offer regular or one off hours, we’d be interested to hear from you. Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk for more information.
Activity Volunteers
(March-October, week days, weekends, term time or holidays)
If you’ve got activity qualifications and experience, and love working with children and young people – we want to hear from you! Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk and we’ll get you to fill in a short form to help us work out how and where you can best serve on the team.
Maintenance Volunteers (Mondays)
We have a fantastic group of willing volunteers help us out on Mondays with a variety of maintenance tasks around site – fondly known as ‘The COGS’; because they keep the place going! Do you have skills such as electronics, plumbing, decorating, woodwork, boat maintenance or general DIY that you could offer? If so, we’d love you to join this team. Your day will be headed up by Steve, our Maintenance Manager, and you’ll also have a tasty cake breaks and hot lunch provided and a chance to meet the rest of the staff team over lunch and coffee breaks.
