History

CYE Sailing Centre was established in 1985. The programmes were originally organised to serve young people from churches and youth groups – providing unique opportunities to experience the very best in water sports training and adventure activity holidays.

Over the years, the range of activities and age groups has broadened, with school groups, training courses and residential holidays providing the majority of programmes from March to November. Our staff team, buildings and events change but our vision remains the same.

The photo you see above is of our first accomodation vessel – The Gerald Daniel. Following the introduction in 2011 of our new accommodation vessel ‘TS Resolute’, CYESC is now able to provide programmes all year round – to include autumn family and church weekends and winter retreats and quiet days.

If you’d like to know more about the history of CYE, we have a wonderful book, The Tale of Two Ships, written by the late David Edwards who was involved from the beginning and project managed the arrival of the new ship. Copies of this can be obtained (suggested donation £5) from the office or we can deliver if you contact us on admin@cye.org.uk
